Bengal Tiger: Raja, the Golden Predator

Raja, our Bengal tiger, is a symbol of power and beauty. With his vibrant orange coat and bold black stripes, he’s one of the most photographed animals in the zoo. Bengal tigers are native to India and are known for their adaptability, thriving in forests, grasslands, and even mangroves.

Raja’s day begins with a brisk walk around his spacious enclosure, marking his territory and surveying his domain. One of his favorite activities is swimming in the large pool, a behavior unique to tigers. During feeding demonstrations, visitors are awed by his powerful leaps as he captures his food mid-air. Keepers often share that Raja is incredibly intelligent, solving complex puzzles designed to mimic hunting challenges. His story is a testament to the critical conservation efforts needed to protect tigers, whose numbers continue to decline due to habitat destruction and poaching.
